Wedding Fair at The Mansion House (Shuttleworth)
Today we are off to one of our most favourite venues The Mansion House, near Biggelswade. Up until recently it has always been known as Shuttleworth House, but many changes are happening this year as they strive to separate the House and it function facilities from the college and Shuttleworth park. However, the venue and staff are still tremendous and we look forward to another season of weddings working with them. Why not come and see us?…
Wedding at Fritton House, Somerleyton Estate, Suffolk
Congratulations to Liz & Simon who were married today at Fritton House, part of the Somerleyton Estate in Suffolk.
This weekends wedding gave us a chance to not only travel away and cover another lovely wedding, but to have a ‘stop-over’ and make a real weekend of it. On one of the hottest days of the summer so far, it was lovely to be outside down my the lake side where there was a cooling breeze, which in turn helped the Pimms go down!

Wedding Photography at Queens College, Cambridge
Congratulations to Kelly & Steve who were married today at Queens College Cambridge!
As usual it was another ‘summer’s day when although the temperature was fine the clouds seemed rather full and threatening for most of the day. However, this was their day to enjoy, and the rain held off all day so all of the family could enjoy the celebrations.
Kelly has grown up running through the wonderful surroundings of Queens College where has worked for many years, which enabled them to be one of the only couples in Cambridge to have their family throw confetti on the manicured lawns.
Steve’s family assembled at the Double Tree Hotel across from the University, so the Groom and ushers had to walk across the famous Mathematical bridge.
The bridge was built in 1749 by James Essex the Younger (1722-1784) to the design of William Etheridge (1709-1776). It has subsequently been rebuilt to the same design in 1866 and 1905. For those who have fallen prey to the baseless stories told by unscrupulous guides to gullible tourists, it is necessary to point out that Isaac Newton died in 1727, and therefore cannot possibly have had anything to do with this bridge. Anyone who believes that students or Fellows could have disassembled the bridge (and then failed to re-assemble it, as the myth runs) cannot have a serious grasp on reality, given the size and weight of the wooden members of the bridge. The joints of the present bridge are fastened by nuts and bolts. Earlier versions of the bridge used iron pins or screws at the joints, driven in from the outer elevation. Only a pedant could claim that the bridge was originally built without nails. Other baseless stories are that Etheridge had been a student, and/or had visited China.
